Vibrational modes in a PZT5A disk with a cork front layer

This is an interactive demonstration of vibrational modes in a PZT5A disk with a cork front layer of varying thickness. The figure shows a frequency spectrum of a PZT5A disk with D/Tpiezo=3 with a cork front layer of varying thickness. The average normal displacement per volt over the front surface of the structure is shown as a function of f*Tpiezo and the normalized front layer thickness for 80 different front layer thicknesses. Red color means high value for the average normal displacement over the front surface of the structure.

Mode plots and actual response for 480 different eigenfrequencies may be seen by clicking on the figure on the intersection between the vertical lines (representing chosen front layer thicknesses) and the solid lines representing eigenfrequencies in the structure. The corresponding eigenmode and the actual deformation at the eigenfrequency is then shown in the lower frame.
